Twitter is tough crowd to please

Alternate title: Why I'll never have 1 million Twitter followers.

I don't think I've had the ambition to do a Top 10 in a while, so amidst seemingly non-stop customized resume preparations, I thought I'd take some time out to procrastinate attempt to entertain you.

My follow and unfollow rates on Twitter are fairly consistent with each other; I've written before how it's all okay - to each their own and all that codswallop . . . but whenever I get a mass exodus in a single day (more than 20), I can never be sure exactly why, since my tweet content is more across the bloody map that Carmen Sandiego.

So, here are my thoughts on that phenomenon.

- 10 -

I rest my case.
And I don't really mind, but it's just a mildly interesting observation of what happens when one doesn't fit exactly into a specific genre, interest group or clique. Hey, kinda like when I was in high school. Ahem.

And on a completely unrelated note, I can't believe January is over, mostly because that means I've survived another 4 weeks being home full time with the boys.

Sweet Cheeses, it's a damn miracle!

  3. I enjoy your tweets. I might not be able to relate to all of them, but enough of them to occasionally reply. Works for me.

Besides, Vagina is a super cool word.

I'll also say that full time stay at home moms are heroes, because that really is the hardest fucking job on earth. The pay sucks too.

  6. Ha, love this. You forgot one though: Twitter being a crafty jerk and unfollowing without permission.

  7. @Skymommy

I know!! What is with that malarkey?! Ugh.

  8. I follow ya. I am surprised I don't lose more. I tend to follow across the spectrum as well but most of the ones who actually talk to me on there are from the erotica side. What can I say I have a damn good imagination and a way with words.

  9. And this is why I follow you. Don't get too excited though, as I do Twitter wrong and can never please the tough crowds. Or any crowd, now that I think about it...UNFOLLOW!

  12. You and I, we are the same a lot.

    Same a lot.

    Same-a-lot.

    Sameuhlot.

    That's fun to say.

I don't pay much attention to my follower list. It's too anxiety-inducing. But I've often ruminated about my all-over-the-mapness twitter-wise. I tweet with a lot of moms, because I am a mom, but mostly because I tweet a lot about Hellbaby, even though I am not her mom (which confuses people), I tweet with a lot of parents of autistic kids and autistic adults because of my handle (which really surprised me when I first started out, duh, I'm dumb sometimes) and my former career as a special ed teacher, I'm sort of crafty, some people think I'm funny, and I am not offended by the naughty talk. You know how Jillsmo has her categorized on her blog roll? Exactly that. "Other Blogs About (Mostly) Nothing and/or General Jackassery"

  14. I love this post but it also makes me sad. I don't see you anymore due to my time diff. and sporadic Twitter catch up. Also I blame trying to one up my husband on WWF. Oh . Maybe my children too.

  15. FOLLOW! Stat.
Seriously funny stuff...glad I found you via the Hump Day Hook-up (which sounds a lot dirtier than it is).

  16. Do people really care about the unfollows? I figure people may follow, not knowing what to expect, find out we have nothing in common and move on. I find it more amusing that they'd follow me in the first place than upsetting that they left.

I came from the Hump Day Hook Up at A Mother Life.

  17. I get all upset when they unfollowed in the beginning, like I wasn't good enough.. anxiety issues, then I found some peeps who loved me and I couldn't give a rats arse! Thanks for never failing to amuse me Hooker :) and on Hump Day No less!

  18. I'm pretty sure my Twitter feed is what's keeping me from getting one of the really good jobs.
